About Calamity.live
Calamity.live is a real-time global disaster monitoring platform that aggregates, normalizes, and scores natural disaster events from 250 scientific data sources. We cover 16 disaster types across every continent, delivering enriched event data with population impact analysis, cascade risk detection, and a proprietary Calamity Score.
Beyond monitoring, Calamity provides forward-looking risk intelligence through the Calamity Forecast Index (CFI), a 7-day multi-hazard risk assessment updated every 5 minutes; a continuous Country Risk Rating (A–E) with automated downgrade alerts; and the Calamity Oracle, a parametric trigger system for enterprise automation.
Important: Calamity.live provides algorithmic aggregation of scientific monitoring data. It is not a replacement for official emergency alerts from your local authorities. Always follow guidance from your local emergency services.

Technology
Our pipeline processes events through 11 normalization stages, applies cross-source deduplication with representative-based clustering, and enriches each event with population impact estimates using a gaussian decay model. The Calamity Score (0-100) combines four components: intensity (40%), population impact (30%), cascade risk (20%), and historical context (10%).
