1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Calamity.live platform ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Leone Ventures srl ("we", "us", or "the Company"). Your continued use of the Service following the posting of any changes to these Terms constitutes acceptance of those changes.

2. Service Description

Calamity.live is a real-time global disaster monitoring platform that aggregates data from 36 third-party sources to provide a unified view of natural and man-made hazard events worldwide. The platform features a 3D interactive globe, cascade detection engine, unified severity scoring (Calamity Score), and population impact analysis.

The Service is offered in two tiers:

  • Free Dashboard Access — the web-based monitoring dashboard, available at no cost.
  • API Subscription — programmatic access to event data via our REST API, available for $5/month.

3. Free Dashboard Access

The Calamity.live dashboard is provided free of charge on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. We make no warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or reliability of the data displayed.

The dashboard aggregates information from 220+ independent third-party data sources. Data may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate due to upstream provider limitations.

The Service is not intended for use as a primary source for emergency decision-making. Always rely on official government agencies and emergency services for life-safety decisions.

4. API Subscription Terms

API access is available through a monthly subscription plan at $5/month, processed via Stripe. By subscribing, you agree to the following:

  • Rate limits. Each API key is limited to 1,000 requests per day. Exceeding this limit may result in temporary throttling or suspension of your key.
  • Personal and non-transferable. Your API key is issued to you personally and may not be shared, sold, or transferred to any third party.
  • Key responsibility. Your API key is displayed once upon successful payment. You are solely responsible for storing it securely. We cannot recover lost keys; a new key must be generated.
  • Suspension and revocation. We reserve the right to suspend or permanently revoke any API key in cases of abuse, excessive usage, or violation of these Terms, without prior notice or refund.
  • Billing. Subscriptions are billed monthly. You may cancel at any time; access remains active until the end of the current billing period. No prorated refunds are issued for partial months.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Redistribute, resell, or sublicense data obtained from the Service without proper attribution.
  • Scrape, crawl, or programmatically access the dashboard beyond the limits of the API subscription.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service, including its algorithms, scoring models, or cascade detection engine.
  • Use the Service to build a competing product or service without written permission.
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits, authentication mechanisms, or other security measures.

If you display or reference data obtained from Calamity.live in any public-facing application, publication, or media, you must include the attribution "Powered by Calamity.live" with a link to https://calamity.live.

6. Intellectual Property

The Calamity.live platform, including its design, code, algorithms, cascade detection engine, Calamity Score methodology, and all associated branding, is the exclusive property of Leone Ventures srl. All rights are reserved.

Data sourced from third-party providers (including but not limited to USGS, NASA, NOAA, GDACS, WHO, EMSC, and others) retains its original licensing terms as established by the respective data owners. Our aggregation, normalization, and scoring of such data does not alter the underlying data licenses.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We do not warrant the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any data, content, or information provided through the Service.

Disaster event data is sourced from 36 independent third-party providers, each with its own update frequency, coverage area, and reliability characteristics. Data may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, LEONE VENTURES SRL AND ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

In no event shall our total aggregate liability exceed the amount of subscription fees actually paid by you to us in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. If you are a free-tier user, our maximum liability to you is zero.

9. Data Sources and Attribution

Calamity.live aggregates data from 36 third-party sources including, but not limited to: USGS (earthquakes, volcanoes, river floods), NASA (FIRMS fire data, EONET events, DONKI space weather, NeoWs asteroids, COOLR landslides), NOAA (NWS weather alerts, SWPC space weather), GDACS (global disasters), WHO (disease outbreaks), EMSC (European seismicity), PTWC (tsunami warnings), Safecast (radiation), WAQI/OpenAQ (air quality), and additional regional agencies.

Each data source maintains its own licensing terms, usage policies, and attribution requirements. Users who access data through our API or dashboard are responsible for complying with the respective upstream data licenses when further distributing or publishing such data.

10. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including but not limited to a breach of these Terms.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. If you are an API subscriber, no refund will be issued for the remaining portion of your billing period. All provisions of these Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, and limitations of liability.

11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Italian Republic, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.

Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tribunale di Santa Maria Capua Vetere (CE), Italy.

12. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time at our sole discretion. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

Your continued use of the Service after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically.
