Snow and ice warnings in Europe

A snow-or-ice warning is about snow piling up, ice forming on wet or freezing surfaces, or freezing rain: slippery roads and paths, poor visibility, and travel and daily life disrupted.

MeteoAlarm puts the warnings of Europe’s national weather services (EUMETNET) on one map. Each warning is issued by the service of its country, for one of its areas, and MeteoAlarm shows it in one of three colours, the same in every country.

Where it is in force now

No snow and ice warning is in force at the moment. As read at 28 October at 09:41 UTC from the warnings MeteoAlarm publishes.

What the levels mean

Yellow (Moderate)
Potentially dangerous weather. What is forecast is not unusual, but take care in anything exposed to the weather, keep up with the forecast and take no risk you can avoid.
Orange (Severe)
Dangerous weather. Unusual phenomena are forecast, and damage and casualties are likely. Be very watchful, follow the detailed forecast, be aware of risks you may not be able to avoid, and follow the advice of the authorities.
Red (Extreme)
Very dangerous weather. Exceptionally intense phenomena are forecast; major damage and accidents are likely over a wide area, often with a threat to life. Follow the forecast closely, follow the orders and advice of the authorities in every case, and be ready for exceptional measures.

The three levels as MeteoAlarm’s website guide defines them, in our words. Below yellow the weather poses no particular risk and MeteoAlarm shows no warning.
